- SUPERIOR CAVE ROOMS -
All of the cave rooms are bathed in soft daylight. Outside the entrance a large terrace with tables and chairs offer rest and relaxation.
This cave room features a lovely piece of art on the
wall composed of four doll busts made of tragacanth resin and paper. These
dolls reflect various aspects of Turkish culture, accurately portrayed in their
clothing and in other visual cues reflecting the time period and place where
they are from. These dolls include Neyzen, the reed-flute player; a pious woman
wearing a traditional headdress; a Whirling Dervish, and a girl playing a
tambourine. All were made by renowned Turkish artist Selma Yurtlu. This compact
room has a writing desk near the window, a perfect place to write your thoughts
or gaze out the window.

The volcanic formation of Cappadocia has resulted in a
wide array of rocks. While the most common and most well-known rock is tuff,
other types include obsidian, onyx, travertine, and basalt. This cave room
displays that geologic diversity with a wall covered in black basalt. In
Cappadocian masonry, black basalt is considered one of the most valuable rocks
for its density and lack of porosity.
