- DELUXE CAVE ROOMS -
Outstanding features of these deluxe cave rooms include exclusive, luxurious custom-made bathrooms with bronze lighting fixtures. Each room is spacious, comfortable, and received direct daylight.
Well-to-do families in Mustafapasa Village could
afford larger homes with many rooms. This gave them the opportunity to create
exclusive uses for a specific room, rather than multiple functions in a more
limited space typically seen in a smaller village home. This spacious deluxe
cave suite with its majestic Roman arch has an exceptionally high ceiling. It
was originally used as the family’s wintertime kitchen.

The cave room
stands out with it’s wood-log ceiling. “Hezen” is the name for the beams of
ceilings and roofs that are built using rough-hewn wood logs – a precious
commodity in Cappadocia, given its barren landscape. The use of these wood logs
in a home was a sign of status for the homeowner. It is a one-of-a-kind space
with masonry elements, natural cave walls, and of course the hezen ceiling.

The original name for this cave room was “Rock Roof,”
indicating that it is entirely a cave. In the Cappadocian dialect, “dam”
refers to a house, room, or living unit. As in the other deluxe rooms, the
ceiling in the room is unusually high. A beautiful mirror in a gilded frame
hangs prominently above the work desk. This deluxe cave room features a
bathroom with shower and jacuzzi tub as well as a large outdoor terrace with
tables and chairs.

Two functional decorative mirrors welcome you as you enter this deluxe cave room. The room has two sections separated by highly interesting Roman arches: a smaller double arch within a larger one. While the latter, the large arch, is decorative, the smaller double arch is functional, a typical local practice. On the walls, you can still see the traces of the historic blue wall paint, a color popular in Cappadocia. The bathroom, decorated with travertine and onyx tiles, has a separate jacuzzi bathtub and a shower cabin. The barrel-vaulted outdoor porch protects you from the elements while you unwind at the end of a sightseeing day.

The barrel-vaulted masonry ceiling in this deluxe cave suite softly
merges with the cave section that houses the bedroom; this is a fine example of
combining two living styles: volcanic masonry and man-made cave dwelling.
The mirror's indigo-colored tiled frame and the turquoise-colored
wardrobe complement one another. The wardrobe is typical of Cappadocia: not
free-standing or walk-in but carved into the bedrock and covered with doors.
From the protected barrel-vaulted outdoor porch, you can see the lush
garden and the hotel’s “brave guards,” two fine bronze hound dogs from the
early 20th century.
The bathroom, decorated with travertine and onyx tiles, has a separate
jacuzzi bathtub and a shower cabin.

This deluxe cave room offers three different architectural forms of Cappadocia: a cave room combined with a masonry section roofed with “hezen.” “Hezen” is the name for the beams of ceilings and roofs that are built using rough-hewn wood logs—a precious commodity in Cappadocia, given its barren landscape. Using these wood logs in a home was a sign of status for the homeowner. The cross-inscribed pillar that holds arches is original and was rescued from the debris that filled the garden due to years of neglect.
The bathroom, decorated with travertine and onyx tiles, has a separate
jacuzzi bathtub and a shower cabin. The pleasant barrel-vaulted outdoor front
porch embraces the large garden.
